Triumph Tiger 900 Preview

The Tiger 900 is an all-new middleweight ADV from Triumph, which will replace the Tiger 800. The motorcycle was unveiled in December 2019, and will soon be going on sale in India. Globally, the motorcycle is sold in five versions, namely - 900 (base), 900 GT, 900 GT Pro, 900 Rally and 900 Rally Pro. The GT versions are more road-focussed, while the Rally derivates are off-road focussed. On the design front, the Tiger 900 is sleeker and narrower than the outgoing Tiger 800. The bike now features full LED headlamps – they’re slimmer but retain the twin-pod look. All variants get a 7-inch TFT display, but the base 900 is fitted with a 5-inch TFT. The Tiger 900 features an all-new frame, which makes it 5kg lighter. In the base, GT, and GT Pro variants, the bike features Marzocchi suspension with 180mm travel (front) and 170mm travel (rear). The suspension is adjustable in GT derivatives. The Rally versions get Showa shocks with more travel on both wheels - 240mm (front) and 230mm (rear). Of all the variants, only the GT Pro gets electronically adjustable rear suspension. The Tiger 900 base, GT, and GT Pro feature 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast alloy wheels, whereas the off-road focussed Rally versions come with spoked tubeless wheels that are of larger size – 21-inch front and 17-inch rear. Twin 320mm disc 4-piston Brembo Stylema brakes and a single 255mm disc at the rear are standard fitments. Six riding modes - Rain, Road, Sport, Off-Road, Rider-configurable mode, and Off-Road Pro – are offered in the Rally Pro version, while the GT Pro gets five, minus the Off-Road Pro.  The Rally and GT variants do not get out either the Rider-configurable or Off-Road Pro mode. The base 900 only gets Rain and Road. The Tiger 900 features a new 888cc three-cylinder engine, which develops 94bhp and 87Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that comes with a slip and assists clutch. The Tiger 900 is expected to be priced between Rs 14 lakh – Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
